Youth Leader's Blog

Hi BFC,

Just wanted to give you all a quick update on what is happening with our Youth from September 2018. The: Switch that has been meeting fortnightly on Friday evenings will be no more; and BFC will have a brand new Youth Group, meeting weekly on Friday evenings called Ignite!

I have had a real heart for our Friday group to meet weekly for a while and have been praying about it a lot this year. It feels like the start of the autumn term, after the summer break, is the best time to relaunch and refresh our Youth group.

So we have a new name: Ignite and a new logo coming soon. I’m really excited about what we have planned for September and beyond. Meeting weekly will mean that we can grow together as a group, do more exciting activities, and more importantly start to reach out to more of the youth in our village.

I was reading in Matthew 5:14-16 in the week: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”. I would love to see our youth group bringing light into our community here in Billingshurst.

These verses also highlighted something else for me: Jesus talks about putting the lamp on a stand not under a bowl. Over the past few months it has been great to see our youth be more visible in the church; they did brilliantly with their Youth Service in February and many of them are serving faithfully once a month on Serving Sundays. I am expectant that God has big plans for our young people in Ignite in the coming months, and am looking forward to this season. Please pray for us all –both youth and leaders.

Finally, we will be going to Newday Youth Camp in Norfolk again this year between 30th July and 5th August. Newday is a great time of worship, significant teaching for our youth and also lots of fun. So please join with me in praying for a brilliant week, good weather, and more importantly that God would encourage, challenge and have new things in store for those that are going.
